Some thunderstorms, rains and duststorms are due this weekend in the plains of North India
The weather has been dry and hot since past few week and absence of any proper spring rains in the plains of North India has landed the region in large rainfall deficit for the pre-monsoon 2024 but a moderately active WD is expected to affect the region from the afternoon of 10th May into late evening of 12th May. Lets dive further into the details of this event.
Weather synopsis
• A moderately active WD: A WD of magnitude (7/10) (Western Disturbance) with a mild dip in upperlevel trough
• Induce CC: A induced Cyclonic Circulation will develop over Bikaner and adjoining North & North Central Rajasthan
• Pre-Monsoon trough: Weak Pre-Monsoon trough will act as a boundary where the thunderstorms will develop over and along
• Dual Moisture Feed: Adequate moisture supply from the Bay of Bengal by the cool and moist Southeasterly and by the Southwesterly winds from the Arabian Sea
Action and sync of these weather systems
• A moderately active WD is set to interaction with the existing pre-monsoon trough coupled with proper moisture supply from Arabian sea and Bay of Bengal and the weak induced CC will produce scattered thunderstorms in the plains of North India between 10-12th May
